Life update: |Deferring from Law to Journalism?

Guys, I’m at serious crossroads right now. Quite a lot has happened to me even though I haven’t gone anywhere or done anything. So, I’ve been thinking about deferring my course. Studying law in the university of Ghana is not easy, at all. Sometimes, it’s like your results don’t reflect your hard work which is very discouraging. Since I’m not entirely sure I want to be a lawyer by profession, I feel like I’m just wasting my time. Without enough interest in the course, studying it is mentally, emotionally and physically draining. Admissions into the Ghana Institute of Journalism have been finalized so I’ll have to wait until next year to apply which will mean that I’m going to be 2 years behind my friends. I don’t really care though. So I have to decide what to do…

I’m thinking about creating podcasts too. Sigh. I need a microphone and a voice editing software etc. I want to start writing down my series. I’m not going to rush it because I know that whatever I do with inspiration ends up beautiful. I thank God for giving me inspiration at the right time.
Also, I haven’t really gotten anywhere with my T-shirts because I haven’t found anyone to print them at an affordable price. Don’t worry, I’m still searching. When the time is right, I know it’ll all work out.

I created an account on Well, it’s a dating site for people looking to meet others from different races. A blogger mentioned it in my comments; curiosity got the better part of me and before I realized I was uploading my profile picture. I know it’s quite dangerous since there could be rapists and serial killers on the site; don’t worry, I’m not taking it seriously. I’m going to be doing a post about how I find the site soon! Keep yourself updated.

Okay guys, this will be all for today. Thanks for keeping up! xx

Adoma. I think you should be patient. The hard truth is no profession is easy and school is always hard it’s determination that wins.

However do some retrospection and prayer first. If God wants you to be a journalist go ahead for it don’t worry about the timing everyone needs his own speed to run his own distance in his own time. However if God wants you to be a lawyer apply every energy and know one day it will pay off.

Also have you considered being a writer ? And can you tell me more of the journalism institute

Oh wow, this change is huge.
Anyways, one thing I have come to realize us that if you get into something you do not like, the possibility of you failing at it increases.

I’ve turned down lots of stuff because I didn’t really like them, and thank God that so far I haven’t had any reason to regret.

I’d advice you make serious efforts into finding out what journalism entails. It isn’t just writing and reading the news, it’s wayyyyyy deeper than that.

Most importantly, speak to God about this decision you want to make.

P.S: If you’re serious about the T-shirt thing, I can help you make enquiries about someone who will print at affordable prices.

I wish you the best Adoma 💕

Some say There’s a simple way to live life; by doing what you love ! I do agree with Deshi, patience is the key. wait it out, don’t jump towards harsh decisions but if at the end of the day your heart still tells you to go the other way. Then perhaps you should consider that 🙂
